Mr. Song Yaozhen, Party Secretary and Director of the school board of Shantou University, and Ms. Luo Hui-Fang, the General Secretary of Li Ka-shing Foundation, together with another 11 school leaders of Shantou University, visited UIC on Oct 22 and discussed educational cooperation and communication with UIC.

Executive Vice-president Prof. Kwok Siu-Tong, Vice-president Prof. ZEE Sze-Yong and Dr. Zhang Cong, and other College leaders of UIC received the visiting guests. Dr. Zhang Cong hosted the symposium and gave a welcoming speech. He said that Shantou University was a very reputable university, and it was an honor for UIC to receive the delegation from Shantou University. 

 

In the symposium, Prof. Kwok made a general introduction of UIC while Vice-president Prof. ZEE, Associate Vice-President Dr. Wendy Chan, President Assistant and Chief of Development and Four-Point Education Ms. Lilian Li, Director of Whole Person Education Dr. Guo Hai-Peng and Director of HR Office Ms. Tanya Liu gave more detailed introduction about UIC's curriculum, quality management system, international exchanges, whole person education, four-point education and human resource management. The Shantou University Delegation was very interested in the management model of UIC.

 

Mr. Song Yaozhen, the Party Director of Shantou University said he was impressed by the current accomplishment of UIC which was achieved with extremely limited resources within 5 years: UIC received affirmation from Hong Kong University Grants Committee, high ratio of further education and placement, together with wide social acceptance. He said that the UIC's experience in modern and internationalized education was worthy of learning. Mr. Song pointed out that UIC and Shantou University shared many similarities: both had Hong Kong connections, UIC was established jointly by HKBU and BNU while Shantou University was donated by the widely acclaimed HK entrepreneur Mr. Li Ka-shing; both endorse the Whole Person Education while each has its own characteristics in detail.

 

Shantou University and UIC expressed hope to increase cooperation and communication in teaching, research and student work, etc.

In the end of the meeting, Prof. Kwok exchanged souvenirs with the guests on behalf of UIC.
